Fun Photo Fun - Dolly

I ran out of fruits and vegetables to murder, so Dolly sitting on the birdbath it is.

Last week my photograph of a weed in the sunshine won The Crumby Mummy's Fun Photo Favourite.  It was worth all the eye pain.  Thank you so much!

The Gallery - 8PM

The theme for this week's Gallery is:  8PM

I have to admit that at first I thought Tara had lost her mind.  8pm?  With a six month old that likes the greet the day at 4am most mornings, I am usually dead to the world by 8pm.  But true to the cause, I grabbed seom matchsticks for my drooping eyelids and when outside and snapped this...

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1. Cracked

Cracked wooden railing on a bridge over the Jubilee River.

2. Fallen

Sadly I came across this fallen gravestone whilst documenting the stones in a local churchyard for my cemetery blog, Beneath Thy Feet.

3.  Ordinary Colour

This was all I could think of for the theme Ordinary Colour.  A blue colouring pencil and a blue pencil sharpener.

4. Bokeh

I have just recently discovered the term Bokeh after taking an out of focus picture of some sequins.  This was a happy accident when taking a macro shot of a Common Garden Spider.

5. Fence

I came across this greening fence on a walk with my husband.  I loved the rustic look 'L' behind it so had to snap a picture.

Fun Photo Fun - Weed

There is nothing more fun than lying on the damp grass, burning your retinas out attempting to take arty farty shots of weeds against the bright blue sky.  No, really... there isn't.

See It, Snap It, Love It - Sparkle

The theme for this week's See it, Snap it, Love it, is:  Sparkle.

Taking out of focus pictures of sequins on your front lawn in the morning sunshine only gets you a damp bottom and some very strange looks from your neighbours.

Perhaps they were concerned I was no longer taking pictures of headless Barbies in the birdbath.

The Gallery - Breakfast

The theme for this week's Gallery is:  Breakfast.

Tara over at Sticky Fingers asked,

"Are you a pancake and full breakfast household? Or a snatch a bowl of cereal and run family?  Do you sit in the garden and sip your tea and nibble on toast? Or do you indulge in croissants and coffee as a treat?"

As you can see from the photography below, we're a 'do I have to get up and have breakfast?' kind of family.  How we ever leave the house on time to get anywere is a mystery to me.

Macro Monday - Garden Spider

I found this huge ugly beauty building her web in the garden between the fence and the trampoline.

She is a Common Garden or Cross Spider (Araneus diadematus) and can be found throughout Europe during the months of July and October.

Fun Photo Fun - Butterfly

Technically not a very good photograph.  But there's something epic about a butterfly, the same butterfly your husband has been attempting to snap and failing, landing on a thistle just as you take a picture.

Ha!  In your face hubby!  What I mean to say is, bad luck old chap.  Maybe next time.

See It Snap It Love It - Vintage

The theme for See it, snap it, love it this week is:  Vintage.

Not the picture I had planned to take.  In fact it was completely serendipitous.

I had planned to take some pictures of vintage Victorian and Edwardian reclaimed fireplaces stacked in a local reclaim yard.  However the husband had just purchased a new camera for himself and was itching to get out and take it for a spin.  Apparently reclaimed fireplaces don't float everyone's boat.  Who'd have thought it?

So I was dragged off, unwillingly, to take some nature photography.  Which for me involves a lot of standing around while the husband take a gazillion pictures of a butterfly or squirrel.  When we stumbled across a steam fair setting up.  Vintage vehicles galore.

The Gallery - Beauty

The theme for this week's Gallery is:  Beauty

Left: Amy - Right: Jess

There is nothing more beautiful than the love between sisters.  Look at these two bathing beauties sharing a joke in the bath.  Although I'm quite not sure Jess gets it.

Show me, show me... your slippers

This week's theme for Show me, show me is:  Your Slippers.

And here they are in all their knitted glory.  Sadly I have yet to wear them because, 1 - it's not cold enough yet and 2 - with laminate flooring it would be like ice skating indoors.

They were bought for me last Christmas by my mother.  Perhaps she's trying to do me in?

A Letter To My 16 Year Old Self

Dear me,

I know you feel like you don't fit in right now, most teenagers feel the same,  That feeling of being on the outside looking in will never ever leave you, but as you get older that desire to be on the inside with everyone else will fade.  Your differences are what makes you, 'you' and the people that really matter in your life will love you for that.  Do not change for anyone.

Bullies don't matter, no-one has the power to make you feel bad about yourself, except yourself.  The bullies are not restricted to school or childhood.  You will have the pleasure of meeting several childish vacuous individuals during your life, but you don't have to make them part of it.

You will find love, many different kinds and all in different and interesting places.  Your children will mean the world to you and prove to you just how strong you can be.

You will learn which bridges to cross and which to burn.  Don't let the past haunt you, it's in the past.  You will make many bad choices, but that is all they were, bad choices.  Learn from them and move on, do not give them the power to stop you living your life.  Chances are the only one still thinking about it, is you.

Above all, you *can* do it.  Ignore anyone who dares to say otherwise.

Yours,

The happy self you never thought you'd have.
