I found this huge ugly beauty building her web in the garden between the fence and the trampoline.
She is a Common Garden or Cross Spider (Araneus diadematus) and can be found throughout Europe during the months of July and October.

Spiders give me the heebie jeebies, but I can see the beauty in their markings and the way they build their wbes.
