The theme for this week's Gallery Post is: Friends.
As no one in their right mind would ever admit to being my friend, I shall tell you instead about a fleeting acquaintance.
There's always something a little forlorn about a child's lost toy. We'd passed this little fellow, let's call him Burt. We'd passed Burt several times last week on the school run, in all weathers. He looked cheerful none the less.
Part of me wanted to pick him up, take him home, give him a wash and the love he so rightly deserves. The other part of me thought, 'Ooo, skanky.
But don't be concerned for Bert. Bert was conspicuous by his absence on the school run Friday morning. Seems someone much more gracious than myself has rescued him, or binned him. Yeah, probably binned him. Have a nice day!

Aaw! That's a different take on the theme if friends! I bet some poor little soul was gutted about losing him!
ReplyDeletePoor Burt!!! He looks so filthy too. Maybe he's pegged by the toe to someone's washing line....
ReplyDeleteHa ha! By the way if you find a lost looking puffin, it's ours! x
ReplyDeleteHope the story had a happy ending and it wasn't the bin option.
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the theme! It reminded me of hoping my girls' favourite cuddly toy would not get lost when they were little...
ReplyDeletepoor pram tossed thing!
ReplyDeleteMade me laugh - when I saw the picture and then I thought now what spin is she going to put on this weeks theme!! I hope that he was found - skanky yes but then I look at my kids favourite toy they take to bed, out in the garden, to friends and I could also describe them as 'skanky' and time for the washing machine!
ReplyDeleteAwwww I bet some poor kid screamed his/her head off when they realised it was missing. Hope it was Mum who found the missing friend. Great take on the theme x
ReplyDeleteHope he's gone back to his home, our teddies are very important in this house and I dread to think what life would be like without them
ReplyDeletePoor Burt. I prefer to think he's been found and washed and is now busy being loved.
ReplyDeleteI reckon he's migrated back home in time for spring!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh lets start a club for picking up poor lost skanky creatures and boil washing them - feeling so sorry for bert. Maybe his owner came by?
ReplyDeleteoh poor Burt! I do hope his little owner come past and found him!
ReplyDeleteahh poor Burt...I hope he made his way back home...my daughter lost her 'red dog' when she was 2...she's 9 now & still talks about him!
ReplyDeleteAwww poor Burt! I can't help thinking of toy story 3 now with the left behind toys. I wonder what Burt thought LOL hopefully his kid found him!
ReplyDeletePoor Burt - I hope he's back, washed and being loved again
ReplyDeleteBurt looks like he's seen a bit of action. Good story!
ReplyDeleteI hope he made it back to his old home! My kids get so upset when they see lost toys about, but it doesn't stop them losing their own toys!
ReplyDeletesome poor child must have been devastated :-(
ReplyDeleteAwww! I hope he wasn't binned and that the mother running around trying to find the toy her child will only sleep with was reunited with him! Poor Burt! x
